Joy and Kindness

We don’t have a prospectus: we let our students speak for themselves. Confidence, Joy and Kindness: three collections of students’ thoughts, ideas and artwork.
HMAD

HMAD – House Music & Drama, to give it its full title – is one of the Senior School’s highlights of the year. Each of our four houses puts on a wild show, full of song, dance, comedy and joy. Hundreds of students are involved. The whole school attend for a day-long party of creativity and joy that says everything about The Abbey.
It’s entirely student-led, with no support from staff: everything from composing to orchestrating to choreography and direction. What they achieve in a few short weeks is remarkable. Here are some highlights from a recent HMAD!
Science Matters

Discover all the exciting science activities happening both inside and outside of The Abbey.
Find interesting articles written by our students, such as “Hydrogen: The Past, Present, and Future” and “The Pros and Cons of MDMA.” Plus, get to know real-life Abbey alumna Professor in Biomechanics at St Mary’s Univeristy, Twickenham Alexandra Atack (2006) and Vice President, Spcies Conservations, Wildlife Conservation Society. Classics Matters

Our seventh issue of the Classics Newsletter is here, wrapping up a truly fantastic summer term. This edition is bursting with highlights — from theatre trips to London and lively Classics Society events, to the Upper III Ovid Competition Celebration and so much more!
Podcast with a cake

‘Podcast with a Cake’ is a series with students from The Abbey School in Reading, talking about a host of topics close to their heart. Ranging from veganism to the impact of social media, each episode also includes sampling and scoring the cake of the week!
History Matters

The History department and students have put together their first “History Matters” newsletter. The theme for this term is “New Beginnings” and the students have put together some very interesting reads from ancient religions to the exploration of various empires – read on to find out more!
