Nursery and Junior School Entry

ISI school inspection February 2026

An Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) inspection under Framework 23 took place in February 2026. Under the new ISI framework, schools are evaluated against five key standards which are categorised simply as ‘met’ or ‘not met’ with no further judgement offered. We are proud to say that at The Abbey all standards were ‘met’.

The report affirms our excellent provision across the areas of academic, pastoral, extra-curricular, leadership and safeguarding. The inspectors speak warmly about our ‘academically ambitious’ curriculum and ‘responsible and respectful pupils’. They state that at The Abbey ‘pupils are motivated to do their best and are willing to take intellectual and creative risks’ and are ‘well prepared for their next steps’. The full report is available for you to read below.

Nursery and Junior School Entry

The Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) is the body responsible for the inspection of schools in membership of the Associations that make up the Independent Schools Council. ISI inspection is for the benefit of pupils and seeks to improve the quality and effectiveness of their education and of the care for their welfare.

In our most recent ISI inspection The Abbey was found to be excellent in both the quality of students’ achievements and in their personal development, the highest grade on offer.
