Thank you for your interest in The Abbey! We’d love to welcome you to the school and to the start of an amazing adventure in learning. 3. Visit us

We’d love you to visit the school. Whether it be Little Knellies (ages 3-4), Junior School (Reception to Year 6), or Senior School and Sixth Form (Years 7-13), we’d love to meet you and give you a sense of what makes The Abbey special. We hold regular open events and tours and are always happy to arrange individual meetings and show you around - just contact admissions@theabbey.co.uk.

4. Register

Once you have visited The Abbey, we encourage you to complete our registration form. There is a non-refundable fee of £120 (VAT inclusive). Once received, we can start the formal assessment process for your daughter.

For international students, please complete this registration form along with a non-refundable fee of £300 (VAT inclusive).

5. Assessment

Whether we are looking at an occasional place in our younger years, or completing formal assessment for entrants into Year 7, the basic process is the same:

  • Meeting or interview: it matters so much to us to get to know your child for who they are. We meet all candidates for an age-appropriate chat about their favourite subjects, hobbies, ambitions and passions, to help gauge how they will fit within this fabulous environment.
  • Assessments: we want every child to be happy at The Abbey. When they are, their work excels. So to ensure each student entering the school will thrive on our academic level, we assess where they are in Maths, English and Reasoning. The process is very informal, gentle and fun in younger years, based on quizzes and 1:1 contact. At Year 7 the assessments are more formal but there is plenty of opportunity for fun and enjoyment on the day, too! Applicants for Year 12 have a 45 Minute General Academic paper and two 30 minute papers in subjects they hope to study for A Level.
  • Wider information: depending on age and stage we also seek information from the previous setting to inform our process.

Even at our formal entry points, which are heavily over-subscribed, we commit to our key principle of valuing every individual. We never drawn a line across a list of results. We meet everyone, and consider them holistically based on their own wonderful talents and interests, when determining our offers of places.

6. Joining the school

If offered, your daughter’s place is secured with a refundable £1,000 deposit. From then we provide lots of support to ensure each child settles and flourishes.
