On 28th March Mrs Stanley, Mr Godfrey, Mrs Riches and Dr Walker were invited, as representatives of the DofE Award at The Abbey, to St James Palace. This was so that we could formally receive our Operating Licence. We were also able to see some Gold Award Presentations taking place and had a tour of the palace (which is not usually open to visitors). Mr Godfrey and Mrs Stanley received the Licence from the Duke of Edinburgh himself and were lucky enough to have a short conversation with him.

It was a real pleasure to witness the Gold Award Presentation and to see how much the Gold Award is valued. All participants who have achieved the Gold Award have the opportunity to speak with The Duke of Edinburgh and receive their certificates from a high-achieving sports person. It was great to see four Abbey old girls receiving their awards during our visit. They were all planning an enjoyable celebratory day in London to follow the presentations!
