Pastoral care

Pastoral care 1

Pastoral care at the Junior School was recognised as outstanding by the ISI Inspectors. The welfare of each individual in the school community is of the greatest importance and all members of the school are expected to act with due consideration and respect for each other. We believe that each of our pupils should feel individually valued and listened to if they are to thrive. Each month the Junior School explores a moral value in assemblies and this permeates every aspect of school life. Eco-awareness and sustainability are important issues for this generation and help pupils to become thinking and caring individuals.

Initiatives such as the Friendship Bench and the Playground Buddies strengthen emotional intelligence. It is wonderful to see younger girls getting advice from older ones and to see the older girls organising playground games with enthusiasm. Girls are also encouraged to play their part in developing a positive and productive school community through membership of their house, the School Council and Eco-council. All girls follow a programme of Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education and our ethos is very much that these lessons extend beyond the classroom and help guide the girls in their everyday lives.
