Learning enhancement
Gifted and Talented
As a school we have been awarded the NACE (National Association for Able Children in Education) Challenge Award in recognition of our excellence in provision for Gifted and Talented students.
The Junior School buzzes with enrichment opportunities for our Gifted and Talented girls. In the classroom, there are problem-solving activities, like Brain Academy, which challenge the girls' logical and mathematical thinking plus workshops, visits, visitors and culture days to enhance the girls' learning experience. An extensive extra-curricular programme takes place during lunchtimes and after school with language clubs covering French, German, Latin and Chinese; music clubs including four choirs and an orchestra; sports clubs ranging from Hi Five to cross-country plus many, many more. In addition, we actively seek to develop the girls' social and emotional intelligence by providing opportunities to promote responsibility, independence, initiative and leadership through roles such as Buddies, house captains and in our School and Eco-councils.
Learning Support
Learning support is concerned with supporting pupils who have specific needs such as dyslexia or dyspraxia. Study skills are an important area of this, giving all pupils the techniques to help them achieve their potential. Pupils are encouraged to develop their study skills further through our extensive PSHE and pastoral programme throughout the school.
Learning support is also given in the form of extra lessons for pupils who will benefit from small group and one-to-one support.
