A Level Syllabus
Global Trends in International Sport - Pupils will compete two in depth studies on two cultures, usually North America and New World Cultures focusing on their historical and cultural backgrounds, physical education and sport in schools and colleges, professional sport, recreational sport, sport as a show of national identity, the pursuit of global deviance and cheating in global games, commercialisation and media in global sport and opportunity in global games.
Refining Performance - Factors affecting performance, personal exercise plan and investigative study.
Scientific Principles of Exercise and Performance - Energy concepts for exercise physiology, molecular muscle cell structures, energy systems and the energy continuum, physiological adaptations, sport psychology, learning theories, personality, the performer in action, aggression, the sporting environment, anxiety in sport, and a synoptic analysis of scientific principles.
This course is assessed through two written examinations and either a coursework or practical assessment..
