Textiles Technology Department
Textiles Technology encourages pupils to be innovative and develop creative ideas. It is a fun and enjoyable way of developing practical skills in relation to the design and manufacture of products.
Learning through the design process develops an understanding of aesthetics, social, functional and environmental issues whilst developing problem solving skills.
The department is enthusiastic and well equipped with a sewing machine for every pupil and a large range of fabrics, paints, dyes and threads to excite the imagination.
The pupils use cutting edge CAD software programs and embroidery machines that allow the individual to transform their original design ideas into quality finished products.
The Textiles department arranges an annual trip for GCSE students to the Clotheshow Live at the NEC and Sixth Form student visit museums, exhibitions and enjoy study days.
