Physical Education
Physical Education is a vital and valuable part of any girl's education and the opportunities at
The Abbey School are varied and plentiful.
The major sports are hockey, netball, tennis, gymnastics, rounders and athletics whilst trampolining and cricket are also well represented. Swimming takes place in our own indoor heated pool.
Competition, co-operation and personal achievement are encouraged at all levels and participation provides much enjoyment. Many teams reach local, regional and even national finals, and The Abbey School has champions in rounders, netball, hockey, cricket and athletics.
Annual skiing and Watersports trips abroad are regular features on the events calendar and are always well supported. Every other year the P.E. staff and pupils produce an entertaining Gym and Dance Display.
The school has been awarded Sport England's two highest awards, Sportsmark Gold (Seniors) and Activemark Gold (Juniors).
