Spanish Department
Trips
The study of a Modern Language requires as much experience as possible in visiting the country and speaking to its people. All Spanish students should expect to spend time in Spain during the course.
Our UIV and LV attend a week-long Language Study Course in Santander, Spain, at the end of the summer term. This is a very successful trip; our students really enjoy attending school in the mornings and going on outings in the afternoons, where they can practice their Spanish and have fun at the same time.
Every year, the majority of our LVI students attend, unaccompanied, a Language Study Course in Salamanca, Spain, for one week during the Easter break. (Some UVI students repeat the experience in their A2 year). They enjoy the course very much and also the independence it offers.
The LVI and UVI students attend the ‘Updates’ conferences in London. They particularly enjoy this outing as they have the opportunity to hear Spanish from native speakers, participate in discussions and meet other students of Spanish.
We take every opportunity to attend Spanish plays, when available. This year our UVI students were able to attend the performance of one of Lorca’s plays: ‘Bodas de Sangre’.
