Mathematics Department
Clubs and Activities
The Mathematics Department enters pupils annually for the National Mathematics Challenges. A Department Challenge is also set regularly and students are encouraged to attend local lectures, activities and Masterclasses when the opportunity arises.

Maths Club runs once a week after school and girls attending range from Year 7 to Year 10. We run a variety of activities, encouraging the girls to have fun whilst engaging in problem solving. It is a good opportunity for the girls to work with others of different ages and similar interests. The activities are such that everyone can be involved. We enter competitions such as “The National Cipher Challenge”, a code breaking competition.
We also enter a team into the UKMT Team Challenge in which a team of 4 girls compete at a regional school against about 30 other schools, with a chance of getting through to a national final.
Department staff are available to give extra help or support to girls at Maths Drop In sessions which run during a lunch hour. The extract below comes from the pupil booklet that lists clubs and activities.
