Schemes of Work

 

• Comprehensive schemes of work, covering each of the Six Areas of Learning are used throughout our Early Years Centre.
• These schemes incorporate the 'Stepping Stones' from the QCA/DfEE document 'Curriculum Guidance for the Foundation Stages'.
• The 'Stepping Stones' form a carefully structured progression of learning objectives which enable the girls to work towards a series of 'Early Learning Goals'.
• Each girl is expected to achieve all of these goals by the end of her Reception year.
  

An example of a 'Stepping Stone' for Literacy

Engage in activities requiring hand-eye coordination Use on-handed equipment

Draw lines and circles using gross motor movements Manipulate objects with increasing control

Begin to use anticlockwise movement and retrace vertical lines Begin to form recognisable letters

Use and pencil and hold it effectively to form recognisable letters, most of which are correctly formed
