Art & Design
Art and Design is a visual and tactile subject which children can relate to immediately and the skills which are developed can be applied across the curriculum. It can allow the children the freedom to express themselves and to explore their creativity and imagination.

Through the teaching of Art and Design in Key Stage 1 and 2 we aim to:
- Stimulate children’s creativity and imagination by providing visual, tactile and sensory experiences.
-
Aid the children in developing the skills, concepts and knowledge necessary for them to express their responses to ideas, feelings and experiences in a visual and tactile form.
-
Develop children’s understanding of colour, form, texture and pattern and their ability to use materials and processes to communicate ideas, feelings and meanings.
-
Explore and value the work of artists, craftspeople and designers from many cultures.
-
Help the children learn how to make thoughtful judgements and enable them to make informed critical responses about their work and that of others.
-
Help the children develop socially through opportunities for collaborative working.
-
Develop an enthusiastic and energetic response to Art in all its forms.
