Citizenship

Developing a sense of social and moral responsibility is an important aspect in the life of the school community. The girls learn how society works, become politically literate and learn tolerance for the views of others. This aids their formation of opinions about important community, national and global issues. Citizenship is delivered through a variety of channels including the curriculum subjects as well as debating, assemblies, PSHE (Personal Social and Health Education) and from pupils’ participation in the life of the school.

Activities outside the curriculum include Debating in the Sixth Form with Reading School, Sixth Form entry into national debating competitions such as the ESU, the Oxford Union and the Cambridge Union (annually) as well as the EYP (annually) and entry into the National Youth Parliament video competition.
