Development Office
The Development Office has been established to coordinate a number of events and activities that support the School and its community. The Development Director (development@theabbey.co.uk) works closely with the Alumnae co-ordinator, ASROGA and the Archive Group as well as the Headmistress and senior staff.
We are in regular contact with a great many former pupils, and it is clear from their attendance at reunions, their extensive and much valued involvement with the Careers convention and their copious correspondence that the School has played a very important part in their lives. Many ‘old girls’ (which include a number of young recent leavers), come back to help the School and its current pupils, especially the Sixth Form, in a variety of ways. The recently established Archive Group is producing vast quantities of information and memories and we are looking forward to the School Archive becoming a valuable resource for all who have an interest in the history of the School and their own education. We are also looking forward to establishing a website and on-line social network specifically for former pupils.
One of the most important roles of the Development Office is to ensure that those who have been generous to the School in the past are appropriately recognised. Over the years we have benefitted from the generosity of many benefactors, which has helped the School develop and succeed, and this will become increasingly important in order to remain at the forefront of education for able girls.
We know that many former pupils, staff and parents share our philosophy that financial constraints should not prevent talented girls from joining the School if they have the potential to achieve as well as contribute to the School’s success. It is for this reason that we are striving to widen the School’s provision of bursaries through the Miss Macdonald Bursary Fund. Your contributions can and will make a difference and will be very much appreciated.
In whatever way you are part of the wider Abbey community your continued involvement in the School, your time, memories and attendance at events is much needed and appreciated. In return we shall continue to provide support, information and networking opportunities, coordinated by the Development Office.
The most immediate way in which we can help all members of the Abbey Community, and you can help us, is to ensure that we have your up-to-date contact details, especially your email address.
