Scholarships, Assisted Places and Bursaries
Scholarships
All girls who sit the entrance examination at age 11 (Year 7) in January are considered for a scholarship. Scholarships are offered to the highest achieving candidates and grant a remission of up to 20% of the school fees. Approximately 10% of entrants are offered scholarships annually.
Honorary Scholarships may be awarded later in the school career to pupils who excel in the GCSE examinations or to pupils who are deemed to be making an outstanding contribution to the life of this school, particularly in the Sixth Form.
Girls entering the Lower Sixth Form may apply in writing for a scholarship. Candidates sit a general paper and a paper in the subject of their choice in November. Scholarships for Sixth Form students grant a remission of up to 20% of the school fees.
Bursaries
A small number of bursaries are available for girls entering the senior school at age 11 (Year 7). Application in writing is required at the time of registration and amounts awarded are dependent upon individual circumstances. These are reviewed annually.
Temporary Financial Asistance
Financial assistance may be offered for parents who find themselves in temporary financial difficulty. Ths is offered at the discretion of the school and can be up to 40% of the school fees for up to a maximum of 2 terms.
Music Scholarships
Girls entering the senior school at age 11 (Year 7) or into the Lower Sixth (Year 12) may apply in writing for a music award. There are also music awards at age 14 (year 10). Awards entitle the student to free instrumental lessons in school, for up to two instruments or for singing. The student would normally have achieved Grade 3 or above in her chosen instrument and will show significant musical potential.
