This is a building for the future, with every room equipped with the latest technology. But the building’s modernity is not just in its technical overlay. The very shape of the building is exciting and innovative, far removed from the standard concrete box. While reflecting the traditional shapes and materials of the surrounding conservation area, it incorporates many forward looking and environmentally friendly features.

We know that we are educating the leaders of the future. We are passionate about equipping our girls to take their place confidently in tomorrow’s world and it is therefore of paramount importance that they are aware of how they must manage resources for the future. We teach them how to maximise their own resources, their talents and personal strengths.
By registering as an Eco-school, we are learning with them how to manage the more finite resources of the world around us and to be aware of our responsibilities on a global scale.

The brief given to our architects and contractors was a practical statement of these concerns and shows our girls that we mean to practise what we preach. Natural ventilation is used throughout the building with wind catcher roof vents.
The heating system is zoned to save energy while sun pipes provide extra daylight without glare or solar gain. Reduced flush toilets aid water conservation. All the timber used in the building was from sustainable sources and wind powered external lights provide interest for the pupils as well as environmental benefits.
