Dress

girls

The Abbey Sixth Form is a place where everyone must feel comfortable and girls are allowed to wear their own clothes. However we do expect students to dress appropriately for an academic environment. Remember that you are often on show to younger girls, prospective and present parents and other visitors to the school.

The following items are not acceptable:

  • Short denim skirts or very short dresses
  • High slits on any item
  • Low cut tops
  • Ripped or distressed style jeans or skirts
  • Flip flops
  • Shorts that are not to the knee should only be worn with opaque tights

Please note that hair should be of a natural colour and shade; for example bright red is not suitable.

On formal occasions, such as Speech Day and Open Evenings, or if you are taking Assembly, you should wear a black dress or a black skirt or trousers with a white shirt/blouse – this should be to the standard expected in a normal business environment.

The vast majority of our students always dress appropriately and are a credit to the school. If you are told that an item of your clothing is unsuitable, please co-operate by not wearing it to school again.
