The Abbey School is celebrating another year of excellent A Level results, with a record proportion (40%) achieving grade As in all subjects (3 or more) and with several subjects again achieving a clean sweep of A grades. Results at grade A and B yet again exceeded 80%, with an overall pass rate of 99.6%.
Mrs Barbara Stanley, the Headmistress, said this morning ‘These are wonderful results and a tremendous tribute to the girls as well as their teachers and parents. It is particularly heart-warming that school records have been broken and that, as a result of the Value Added which is the hallmark of an Abbey education, many personal expectations have been exceeded.’
Mrs Rachel Dent, Director of Sixth Form, added ‘The vast majority of our students will be able to take up places at their first choice universities, including Oxbridge and the highly-competitive medical schools – I am thrilled for them all, and admit to being a little relieved in a small number of cases!’
The AS results for the Lower Sixth are a similar cause for celebration, the challenge now being for the year group to exceed this year’s A level results next year.
