New Head Girls

The Headgirls

We are both looking forward to the year ahead and the challenges and experiences that it will bring. We are extremely honoured to have been given the position and hope to make the most of the opportunities presented to us.

Claudia: Over the last 6 years, I have relished all the opportunities that The Abbey has provided. From the start, I immediately realised that The Abbey was a fun and vibrant place to be and loved taking part in various events such as House Music and Drama and the Upper III Pantomime! However, sport has been my main interest throughout my school life. Through being a member of many teams such as hockey, athletics and rounders, I made new friends and became fully integrated into school life as well as attaining many sporting achievements such as our indoor hockey team becoming county champions last year. I think that The Abbey has been a perfect environment to grow up in and feel that the support network it offers allows all students to achieve as much as possible both academically and extra-curricularly.

Ellie: When I joined the Abbey in Upper III I thought it would be simply a place to learn, get homework and take exams – how little did I know! The school has encouraged me to grow as an individual through the many extra-curricular activities on offer and the supportive teachers. I have been able to try my hand at everything – from rock climbing to clarinet playing and I have enjoyed being at a school which encourages you to work hard but also to enjoy yourself. I have loved learning and practising the skill of debating and a particular highlight was the Great Shakespeare debate which pushed me intellectually whilst also being extremely enjoyable. I have many cherished memories from the last few years and hope to make even more over the next year.

Having both thoroughly enjoyed the last 6 years we are looking forward to giving something back to a school we love so much. Hopefully we can maintain the high standard our predecessors have set and use the leadership and teamwork skills we have learned from our time at The Abbey. We are currently taking our A levels and are both hoping to study Medicine at university.
