Choir sing Armistice Day Evensong at Windsor

St. George's Chapel, Windsor Choir on the West Steps Remembrance Day Service at The Abbey

The Sixth Form choir sang Armistice Day Evensong at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle. It was a very special experience for the girls to sing in such a historical chapel with its architectural beauty and wonderful achoustics. The girls sang the very moving Anthem, ‘For the Fallen’, by Mark Blatchy. Their families and friends, along with the regular attendees at Evensong, all enjoyed this memorable occasion.

In the morning, The Abbey’s Lay Chaplain, Mrs Vicki Gibson, led a poignant Remembrance Service for the whole Senior School. The theme for the service was ‘Heroes’ and she made the service very relevant for the girls by highlighting young servicemen and women who have lost their lives in the current conflicts, including an 18 year old rifleman from Reading who had left a letter for his family. There was 2 minutes' silence at 11am then Sixth Former, Emily Rigby, played 'The Last Post' and the Headgirls Annabel West and Katherine Savage laid a wreath. This was the first time a wreath has been laid at The Abbey.
