On the 16 September 2009, two members of our Upper Sixth, with the help of other students and staff, organised a "Pink Day" to raise money for Breast Cancer Care.
One of these girls, Louise said, "When my mum recently found out she had serious breast cancer, it shook our lives and turned everything upside down. The support that Breast Cancer Care offered never failed to amaze us but no one can ever help or know what someone is going through unless they’ve gone through the same thing; that is what is so great about Breast Cancer Care, that they are not just being sympathetic, they actually understand. On the 16 September another member of the Upper Sixth and I decided to celebrate the work that the charity does at our school. On the Thursday we held an assembly about Breast Cancer Care followed by a pink Friday. We managed to raise a total of £619.00 through a pink cake sale, donations and wearing pink accessories. The whole day was a success and the Sixth Form came head to toe in pink! "
The day was a great success and the girls hope to make this an annual event.
