A Level Results

Emily, Katie and Daisy celebrate all A*s

Students came into School this morning to celebrate excellent A level results and are now looking forward to their new life at university. 18% of the papers were at A* (versus the national average of 8%) and 58% A*- A. A third of the A Level candidates got straight A*/As.

In what is an exceedingly competitive year for university entry nearly all girls achieved their UCAS offer (including all Oxbridge) and are to start at an impressive list of universities and courses. The A Level successes follow on from the outstanding International Baccalaureate results for Abbey girls in the same year group who scored a mean of 39 points (maximum is 45 and Diploma average is 30) and ranked in the top 5 IB schools nationally.

Three students gained all A*s, highlighting the popularity and strength in Maths and Sciences in the all girls' environment. Katie Buckton (Maths, Further Maths, Biology and Chemistry) is going to read Chemistry at Oxford, Emily Kirkham (Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Biology) is going to study Medicine at Bristol and Daisy Marino (Maths, Chemistry and Biology) is to read Biochemistry at Oxford.

A* 18%
A*- A 58%
