Lower IV (Year 8)

Activ8 Trip to Manor Adventure

During the Lower IV year, the Pastoral staff focus on the wider life of the girls and support them in developing other interests outside of their academic studies. The girls participate in an exciting personal development programme called Activ8, which is designed to provide a variety of stimulating challenges and fun for all girls in Lower IV. Some of the eight challenges include: Service to the Community, Visit to a cultural site, Following a Hobby and Reading a Novel written before the 20th Century. The programme gives all girls a purpose and incentive to pursue and develop ideas that they have and encourages them to think about their involvement in extra-curricular pursuits and contributions to the wider community.

In Lower IV all girls start to study either Spanish or German in addition to French. During the year they will choose from Option blocks for Upper IV (Year 9) choosing 3 subjects from Latin, Music, Art, Food Technology, Textiles Technology and ICT.

Social highlights of the Lower IV year include a whole year group residential trip to Manor Adventure Activity Centre in Shropshire, where girls take part in a range of physical activities and initiative exercises. The school also hosts a disco for LIV girls to which boys from other nearby schools are invited.
