- Handling Data
Examination
Nationally, the assessment of GCSE Mathematics will change for candidates taking their GCSE in the summer of 2012. The examination is set at two tiers: Foundation and Higher. We expect to enter all pupils for the Higher Tier (grades A* to D available). In addition to more traditional GCSE questions, there will be a greater emphasis on students making connections between mathematical concepts and applying the functional elements of mathematics in everyday and real-life situations.
Edexcel’s Linear scheme comprises two 1 hour 45 minutes examination papers. Both papers will test all four Attainment Targets and the first paper will be a non-calculator examination.
Coursework
Coursework is no longer part of the GCSE Mathematics assessment.
