GCSE ICT

ICT

The Abbey has chosen to follow the OCR ICT Full Course Specification (J461)http://www.ocr.org.uk/qualifications/type/gcse_2010/ict_tec/ict/index.html

We have chosen this specification as we feel that the concepts and technologies it covers, have the capability to engage and enthuse learners. We particularly like the two optional units that allow girls to specialise in either the ‘Creative use of ICT’, which utilises ICT in areas where young people often excel or ‘Coding a solution’ which introduces the concept of programming. Either route will provide an excellent grounding in ICT for the girls’ future academic studies or working lives and will allow them to progress towards an A Level in Computing.

The modular structure of this GCSE will allow assessment to be spread over the two GCSE years, giving girls the best chance to perform to their capabilities.
