Our ethos is to provide world class Industry standard ICT to all pupils. We lead in the innovation and development of national and international educational ICT knowledge, skills and understanding from ages 3 to 18 years.
Our schemes of work focus on the development of communication and document production skills at high level, even at a young age. Our pupils use ICT as a commodity and a tool, drawing upon exceptional research and communication skills using fast internet and personal email accounts. In combination with leading web applications the pupils develop an excellent range of global Industry standard software skills. They study the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, Publisher). The School is fortunate to develop the study of Adobe Creative Suite 4 Master Collection which enables young pupils (at Key Stage 2) to begin an exciting and innovative development path in which they will become capable users of Dreamweaver and Flash for Web and animation, Photoshop and Illustrator for graphics, InDesign and Acrobat for Desk Top Publishing and edocument production, Soundbooth for sound manipulation, Premiere Elements (Premiere Pro for older girls) and After Effects for movie production.
Through this study the pupils realise the importance of understanding document (data, print, web, animation, graphic, sound, movie) production in its widest sense and fully prepare themselves to be understand the power of choice in the use ICT as an academic tool and a personal and global business commodity.
The lessons are, wherever possible, taught in with a cross-curricular theme which allows the pupils to understand that the use of ICT is not about the technology itself but what one does with it. We place great importance on the pupils understanding the importance of core IT skills such as data management and programming. We have some exciting developments to come as we review and rollout new KS2, KS3 and KS4 curriculum modules supported by and in partnership with Google. Working in a Web environment is our pupils’ future. It is essential we are able to provide them with the best understanding of how they can be empowered to engage with the essential global communities.
We are proud to offer GCSE and A level ICT and A level Computing. Our focus is upon the pupils having great fun in the creation of high quality exceptionally skilled projects using a wide variety of media.
