GCSE Science
Science is a core curriculum subject allocated nine teaching periods per week: three periods in each of Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Each subject is taught by a specialist teacher. The WJEC specification is followed leading to either Science and Additional Science or 3 Separate Science GCSEs. Pupils are able to proceed to A level or IB in any Science subject from either route. All examinations are taken in Upper V. Throughout the course pupils learn the skills necessary for the controlled assessments which are carried out during Upper V.
Science and Additional Science and 3 Separate Sciences are both suitable for potential students of medicine and veterinary science.
