40%

The portfolio of work submitted for Unit 1 will be selected from art work the girls have produced throughout the course. Their work will show how they have developed ideas from a variety of sources; refined these ideas through experimentation with different media and techniques; recorded their observations, insights and intentions and presented a personal, informed and meaningful response.

Girls will be set appropriate projects throughout the course and will be encouraged to develop their ideas from the starting points given, working with their particular strengths and interests. New skills and techniques will be introduced and a wide range of sources will be considered throughout the course.

The course will begin with structured projects being set to introduce the girls to new materials, concepts and techniques. Throughout the course the girls will become more independent in the development of their ideas for their work. They will be given support throughout to enable them to realise their intentions.
