In Preparatory (Year 1) girls join the Junior School in Kensington House. They enjoy daily involvement in the wider school community and a greater input from a range of specialist teachers. In their form classes, a firm foundation is laid in Reading, Writing and Maths.
Many different themes are explored and integrated across the curriculum. Some of the most popular topics are Toys, Houses, Countries of the World and The Seaside.
Throughout their year in Prep, the girls participate in many hands on learning experiences and enjoy practical workshops linked to the curriculum. This ensures that their learning is active and engaging. We also go on trips linked to the topics covered in class, such as Bekonscot Model Village, Hughenden Manor and a trip to the seaside at Bournmenouth!
They look forward to performing with our Transition (Year 2) girls in their Christmas production and also perform to an audience in our popular Form Assemblies.
Our aim is to make sure the girls settle in well, are motivated and stretched in their learning and have lots of fun in their first year of the Junior School.
