Upper I made their much anticipated visit to Ufton Court. They had a great time investigating its interesting History and discovering Priest Holes. They even re-enacted a raid by soldiers looking for Catholic priests in the sixteenth century. Amongst other activities, the girls made sweet smelling posies from the herb garden and miniature wattle and daub walls. At the banquet, the guests gave Shakespearean compliments to each other before dancing the Pavanne to the accompaniment of Lady Susannah Perkyns’ mandolin. Lady Butler and Lady Wild (Mrs Butler and Ms Wild) of Abbey Hall were the special guests on this occasion. Many mapwork activities were also undertaken, culminating in Orienteering and a picnic in the woods.
