As part of the school's fund raising for the Haiti Appeal the Junior School 'Bring and Buy' sale took place on Friday 29th January. The girls were extremely generous with the amount of books, soft toys, gifts and games that they donated in aid of this worthwhile cause and the tables were piled high with delightful things to buy. The Charity House Captains (pictured here) worked tirelessly throughout lunchtime to ensure the event ran smoothly. Also wonderful to see was that many girls, once they had completed their purchases, simply donated the rest of their money to the cause. Such generosity meant that over £480 was raised.
To coincide with Science week and live chicks, the Junior School Charity Captains ran a competition to name a large toy chick that had been donated to the Haiti appeal. Many girls were keen to take home the gorgeous soft toy and were very inventive with their choice of names. Portia (Year 3) was the eventual winner and went home happily clutching ‘Hoppetiskip’. The competition raised an extra £21.10 to add to the whole school Haiti total.
We really hope that through both the Senior School and Junior School initiatives we will make a sizeable schoolwide donation to the Haiti Appeal.
