The Junior School was buzzing on Friday 2nd July when girls were able to showcase their work and many activities to their parents. Year 2 girls looked stunning in beautiful dresses as they danced traditional Maypole and country dances. Various music groups performed in the quad and speed chess took place under the beech tree. PE activities on show were tennis, long jump and judo. Inside the school, year 4 girls took part in a virtual classroom activity with a live link to the National Archives and some year 5 girls led investigations in the Science lab. The studio was the venue for the Dance groups and for the year 4 French play. The orchestra kicked off the afternoon in the hall, followed by choral speech and dancing by year 3 on ‘ Boudicca and Girl Power’. The choirs also performed in the hall and their beautiful singing rang out across the site. During the afternoon girls were able to show their parents some of their work displayed in the classroom and around the school. Across the road in Knell House, there was a lively atmosphere as girls showed their parents their favourite activities. The Open Afternoon started with an unscheduled event when the fire alarm sounded – fortunately a false alarm – but it allowed parents to witness firsthand the ordered and efficient way that our girls react!
It was a joyful afternoon!
