Throughout the day the girls take part in a variety of whole class, small group and individual activities. Below is an example of a typical day in The Early Years Centre:
• “Open doors” - at the start and end of the day, time is allocated to allow parents to settle their daughters and to speak to her teacher on a daily basis.
• Registration
• Assembly.
• Whole class, group and individual activities. In Reception the mornings have a “Communication, Literacy and Language” and “Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy” focus.
• Snack time (Fruit and Milk/Water)
• Whole class, group and individual activities.
• Lunch and outdoor play
• Whole class, group and individual activities.
• Garden activities (including an afternoon snack)
• Story
• “Open doors” for home time.
Music, drama, ICT, singing and physical development are all important aspects of the school week and are taught by specialist teachers.
As the girls progress through The Early Years Centre the day becomes more structured and the amount of time spent on focused activities increases.
