Before and After School Care operates in the dining room of Kensington House every school day. We take girls from pre-nursery (3 year olds) up to Lower III (11 year olds). The girls are supervised on a staff to child ratio of 1:8, with designated staff being responsible for the welfare and care of the Early Years girls. These staff also escort the Early Years girls between Kensington House and Knell House.
Before School Care operates from 7.45am till 8.30am when the girls go to their classrooms. The girls engage in activities such as drawing and colouring, board games, card games, construction toys, imaginative and role play games. We have a large selection of toys and activities such as a doll’s house, a puppet theatre, dressing up clothes, tea sets and musical instruments
After School Care runs from 3.30pm till 5.45pm. Upon arrival, girls are encouraged to play outside in the garden. They can test their physical skills on the adventure playground, improve their ball and skipping skills, or make up their own imaginative games in the Wendy house or under the trees. A drink and light snack is served about 4pm, with particular attention to those having special dietary needs. Afterwards the girls can choose from similar activities to those offered in the mornings, a rest or read in the quiet corner which has soft seating, further outside play or the craft activity being offered that day. This could be modeling, painting, cooking, sewing, beadwork or paper crafts. Sometimes we have hunts, try science based experiments, enjoy messy activities or play team games.
A supervised homework room operates from 4.15pm till 5pm for Key Stage 2 girls.
