The Abbey Chaplaincy – serving the spiritual needs of the whole Abbey community

The Abbey School is proud of its Christian heritage but also aims to be an inclusive community welcoming all those with faith as well as none under its umbrella.

The school community is diverse and bubbling with activity and life. Symbolically, in the heart of the school lies The Chapel representing our belief that spirituality is a corner stone to all we seek to be and achieve at The Abbey. The Chapel is a place of spirituality and calm. Holy Communion is held regularly for those who are Christian and Cross views continues to meet for those who wish to explore ideas linked to the Christian faith. Assemblies are acts of worship led by staff and pupils where girls are encouraged to reflect on a wide range of relevant religious, political and ethical issues. The themes are wide ranging but communicate the values of the school and encourage girls to think and care about the community around them A philosophy group also meets for students who want to explore and debate ideas outside the parameters of the Christian faith.

We believe in the power of prayer and host the parents' prayer group and staff prayer group. The Parents' Prayer Group meet once a month on a Friday from 2.30 - 3.30 pm and any parent is welcome to come to the former and for more information please contact the Chaplain Vicki Gibson at gibsonvi@theabbey.co.uk.
