Aims and Structure

The principal objectives of the Parents' Association are:

  • to engage in activities which support the School and advance the education and the development of the pupils attending it;
  • to provide a means of communication between parents, staff and governors, in no way restricting the liberty of every parent to make individual and direct contact with them;
  • to provide a forum for discussion on matters of common interest to parents, staff and the School
  • to allocate funds raised through parental subscription, social activities or other donations, by supporting projects which will benefit the pupils
  • to develop more extended relationships between staff, parents and others associated with the School.

All money raised by the Parents' Association is given to the school in the form of gifts, donations or prizes for excellence.  Normally requests for gifts are raised by the school, but parents and even pupils can make requests. If you have a request for funds please print out and complete this form then return it to the school office for the attention of the Parent AssociationSecretary.

The Consitution and Charity Registration

The constitution of the Parents' Association can be found below. Our Charity Registration number is 1129986

The Committee

The Parents' Association Committee consists of 12 Officers (Chair, Treasurer and Secretary, marketing coordinator, social secretary to name a few of the roles we have).  We also have 4 other ordinary committee members to make up the full committee.   Another important role is that of Class Representative.  There is usually one representative per class and this person provides a link between individual classes, the parents and The Parents' Association.  The support from class representatives is vital when it comes to organising our main events.  They are the point of contact for ticket request and sales.  They take charge of their individual class stalls for both the summer and Christmas fairs and, with the support of the committee, organise rotas of help and donations.  We really could not manage without them.

The committee and class rep contact details for the current academic year can be found on the our website and are posted on the Parents' Association notice boards.

Committee  Meetings

The Committee meet on a regular basis usually twice per term, with smaller working groups meeting as necessary to organise larger more complicated events.  Apart from Committee members, the Headmistresses of the Senior and Junior Schools, the Bursar and the Marketing & Communications Manager attend so that the School is completely au-fait with our activities.

Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) is held at the beginning of the academic year, usually in October or November and this is an opportunity for you to come along and hear in more detail about the events we run, how we intend to raise funds in the coming year and how the money has been spent or will be spent.  It is also the occasion when we elect our new committee members.

Parents' Survey

To make sure the Parents' Association is delivering what its membership wants a survey was conducted in 2008. A summary of your responses can be viewed below.
