The Parents' Association supports all stages of school life, whether your daughter is starting school for the first time in the Early Years or she is entering the Sixth Form. We work closely with the school, the governors and ASROGA to foster, support and advance the education and well being of all Abbey School pupils.
The Parents' Association is about much, much more than just fundraising. It exists to provide closer links between home and school, and it is an excellent way to bring staff, parents and friends together socially in support of the school. It is fun too - just ask any of the committee members or helpers. We are very proud to have donated more than £30,000 over the last five years.
The Parents' Association is extremely conscious of the values of the school, and we try very hard when organising and planning events to respect this. Not all of our events are run as fundraisers; such as the Early Years Christmas Party or the Parents' Quiz Night. These are run with the aim of giving the children and parents a good time and as a way of thanking families for their continued support.
The Parents' Association is a registered charity which is a legal requirement for any organisation that has an annual income greater than £5000. We are registered with the charity commission; our details are contained on this website.
As a Charity we must abide by Charity Commission rules and regulations and we are bound by a constitution. Our constitution sets out rules about how we operate as an Association and how we conduct ourselves. A full copy can be found on here.
The committee and other contact details for the current academic year can be found on this website and are posted on our notice boards about the school.
If you want to get involved, you are most welcome. Do not think that you can only be involved if you have lots of spare time, this is not the case as many of our current committee members work full time. We also have a mix of male and female committee members so for all you Dads out there, do not think this is just for the Mums. You can help in many ways: become a class rep, help at the second hand uniform shop, print leaflets for one of our events or get your employer to sign up to charity matched giving. Every little helps and you also get to know a new group of people and really feel like you are truly involved in your daughter’s school life.
