Upper IV Hair for Haiti Day Lower IV fundraising thermometer and sweets competition Coins for Haiti

Seeing the enormity of the earthquake tragedy in Haiti has really moved pupils at The Abbey. The disaster has been discussed in assemblies and form groups and many girls have come up with their own fundraising initiatives listed below.

  • Sixth form wore something red last Friday - over £430 was raised.
  • Junior School Bring and Buy Sale - a total of £479.32 was raised
  • Senior Library Book Bring and Buy - Mrs Lees is collecting books in the library for a Bring and Buy sale. Please can girls, parents and staff look on your book shelves for books in good condition that you no longer read but others might enjoy - £470. raised.
  • Sixth form Crispy Creme donuts sale Wed Feb. 3rd break time -£351.08 was raised with 500 doughnuts selling in 5 minutes!
  • Lower IV Measuring Cylinder - £61.07
  • Pennies in a Jar - £93.60
  • LIV map of Haiti in the Hardcastle Hall with change to be stuck on it - let's see if we can cover the land - £88.39
  • Non-uniform Day - £514.73
  • Lower VC donation - £80.12
  • Donation of £135.00
  • Junior School - Name that Chick - £21
  • LIV homemade chocolates for Valentines day - orders being taken outside the Dining hall
  • Lakhita is being sponsored just to speak French on her trip to Paris Friday 5th (already raised £100)
  • Upper III are doing a collective sponsored silence on Friday Feb 5th - total raised was an incredible £1785.70
  • Upper IV are doing a 'Hair for Haiti Day' on Feb 10th
  • LVH teachers as a baby competition Thursday 11 Feb in the Lecture Theatre cost to enter £1.; small prize for winner - raised £308

We really hope that through all these initiatives we will make a sizeable schoolwide donation to the Haiti Appeal.
